I think you go OTT a little Talimon, but I agree it is an excellent scene, well assembled from its parts by PJ's writers, and beautifully acted. You confirm it is from three or four parts, and it is done seamlessly, really well. Well I did say in my first posting "what sounds to me like original dialogue, and is very well done and effective" referring to the Gandalf/ Gollum film scene, and later "the style is so good and so must be compiled from various parts of the books". Thanks Talimon for giving me the right reference, to Aragorn, and for giving the two texts in full to compare- great aren't they, both? In which case you were also 'meant' to have it. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. So do all that come to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill, before this is over. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement. Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance.
